A short foray into the Simple Life
Rich strawberry farmers who don't need to farm:
Cos stewpid city gals like me pay them 1500 yen to pick their strawberries! But the strawberries were huge and sweet. It's tabehoudai too! Mean strawberries buffet DIY style! Erm... I tried not to dwell too much on whatever creepy crawlies that have made their way across the bright and glossy fruits and leaves. So what if I am eating their footsteps!
Unfortunately, after forking out this much to pick and eat strawberries, every 100g of strawberries I bring out will cost me a further 100yen each! Those bloodsuckers. Here's when I gave a prayer of thanks to my trusty Giordanos and the large and deep pockets! It was perfect for strawberry picking(stealing)!
This is also my very first outing with a fellow Singaporean and my NUS junior junior (... cos she jus graduated last yr), Dawn
After the strawberry picking, Mrs Akiyama (the lady fr church who opens a tuition school who so very kindly invited me thinking that I will speak English to the kids when they don't understand a word and will freeze up if I ever spout a single alphabet) brought us to a market selling extremely cheap n fresh produce. I managed to control myself and not buy enought vegetables to feed a family of 10 for 1week. Perhaps a family of 5 lah. ^^
There was this tree near the market and look! It's perfect for climbing. Thus, at the ripe old age of 27, I finally climbed my very first tree!!!!!!!!! It was sooooooo fun! Just to prove I climbed the tree, I took a picture of my mei2 tui3 too!
All in all, I had a great time. This is exactly what a ryugakusei in Japan should do. At least, that was what I had expected from from previous experience in Okinawa.
