An uncomfortable enjoyment: Code Geass
Most people know that I am somewhat an otaku. And I usually enjoy my anime/manga without thinking too deeply on the cultural, political or social aspects of the contents. Being shallow is absolutely necessary to enjoy life in its simplest aspect.
Currently trying to catch up with Code Geass Relouch of the Rebellion and its second season, Code Geass R2. But this is a really uncomfortable anime for me, as it is a blatantly nationalistic anime where I often hear 日本万歳. And the story pits Japan against an empire, called Britiania. Just how much more nationalistic can it get?!? I shudder to think of all the impressionable Japanese teenagers watching this.
