Avocado scrub mask
I love this mask so much that I just had to post this up. (and I wanted to procrastinate too!) I used this mask during the busy period of my Masters thesis writing time for a week and my skin was totally clear. Then, I became busier and stopped using... out came the pimples! So here I am, back on using this mask. I even bought a packet of sugar for this recipe. (FYI, trying to cut down on sugar intake by using sugar replacement, like Equal.)
This mask is from my fav beauty tips blogger, ricebunny. Credit also goes to Kiki for introducing this blog to me.
Ingredients - One ripe Avocado (To tell if it's ripe place your thumb on the blossom end and fingers on the stem and gently squeeze to feel if it's soft). - 1/2 cup of granulated sugar - 1 teaspoon of honey
Anyway, this is not a recipe to bake a cake, so don't worry too much about the measurements. Just make sure you have the right consistency in the end so that it will stay on your face and not drip off. Oh, if you live in Spore, make sure you wash it totally off with warm water, or else ants will come and carry you away at night.
Cut your avocado into half and remove the seed. If it is ripe enough, the seed should pop out with a twist of your knife.
Use a spoon to scoop out half. (Tip: one good way to cut up soft avocado is to use your knife and slice the flesh diagonally across without cutting the outer skin. then use a tablespoon to scoop out. You will have pretty cubes of avocado in a flash!)
Put in half cup of granulated sugar
Mash it up into a grainy consistency
Add a teaspoon of honey. Honey is very good for your skin. It has natural healing properties.
Now your scrub is ready! Store it in your fridge, this should last up to a week.
Apply it on your skin, leave it on for 15 minutes as a mask. It should have dried up after 15 min.. With wet hands, slowly exfoliate your skin. This will remove the dead skin and the natural nutrients from the avocado and honey can penetrate into your skin easier.
The original post said used every morning and night, but I don't have so much time. So I simply used it at night.
Oh, and use the leftover avocado in your salads, with your lettuce. Just add olive oil and balsamic vinegar as dressing. Yummy!
