Pass GO and collect $200
My jealousy is acting up again. Went to a family friend's home for dinner tonight (or should i say last night?). they are this Ainu family who are really really nice and friendly to me. I must say that they are the closest among my informants... although as a rule, I don't put any private conversation into my paper. Do you know how difficult it is, to be out in the field, all by yourself, nobody to help open doors or oil the hinges for you. I met with so many walls, uncomfortable moments, unresponsive behaviors, before reaching the point I am at. Where the more prominent or active Ainu people recognize and talk to me.
so I get jealous of those people who always, at the shake of their dice, land on GO. life is easy for them. Luck just lands on their laps. They just hang on the coat-tails of their senseis, or let their seniors pave the road for them. So this GO girl was in our group today. She does not really know this family. But here she is, chatting and drinking with them. I am reminded of the time we went to this Ainu related study camp. There was no place to shower at night and you know I am a shower-pokemon. In the evening, halfway thru the talk, i wordlessly watched GO girl and her sensei collect their toiletries and followed this Ainu lady out. She drove them to a bathhouse.

Life is easy for GO girl.
of course, there are benefits to being free and footloose. Being in the shadow of your sensei or seniors might mean you could inherit their enemies among the Ainu people too.
Even so... even as I own lots of properties and hotels, I can't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the player who kept landing on GO.
