Back into the loving bosom of my family
For those how have never lived alone overseas, I can tell you that the experience can be quite liberating and stressful at the same time. Yes, you are all alone and have the powerful 'gaijin pass' that allows to much freedom. However, there are mundane stuff to worry about. Like the bills, insurance, the heap of plates left in the sink, the clogged bathroom sink etc...
Towards the end of my 2.5 years in Sapporo, I was longing to be back in the bosom of my loving family. But perhaps, what I longed for was just the maid/ mum to help clean and tidy. Granted, I did help my mum wash dishes once as I crashed back into the reality of seeing her slave and work for her spoiled kids and useless husband from morning to night. Otherwise, I didn't really do much (FYI, I am now in Hazel so there's not much I can do anyway).
I believe that I had mentioned before in an earlier post. Being back in the bosom of my loving family means being forced to see an uglier side of myself. I lose the illusion of being free and happy in Japan. Here, I am obsessive over Variel's imprisonment. I am an idiot when it comes to computer. I am, as usual, fat-selfish-self centered. Was it better to live in an illusion and be happy or face the reality?
I am not allowed to express my worry and unhappiness over Variel's imprisonment and the boh chap attitudes of the staff there. Actually, I couldn't see her last sat and sun, as the quarantine center was closed. Come monday, I wanted to be there at 4 sharp. But I couldn't rush the loving bosom that is the driver. Ended up late for 10min. I was really upset... but kept quiet, as it is morally wrong to be so obsessive over 'just a dog'. My unhappiness increased exponentially as I must pretend to be happy. I must have my PRIORITIES right. So what if she has been my family for 11 years. So what if she had been my source of my joy and comfort while I was in Japan? (Granted that she was also the source of much stress and inconvenience lah.)
To my loving bosom, money is important. Yes, that is why lots of my friends say that I am quite kiam siap. So I harped upon the fact that I need a fast running laptop to do my translating work for loving bosom to help me reformat. When in actual fact, my laptop is almost another 'Variel' for me. She was my only link to the outside world. Not to mention that I need her to hikikomori. Her fate now hangs in the hands of loving bosom.
So I have got my priorities in the wrong places. How can a dog and a machine be so important anyway?
