Turning 30 and the next chapter of my life
Yes, I finally turned 30 and I celebrated it several times. On 19th, I celebrated it in Sapporo with the usual KTV @ Manekineko and topped it off with an overnight Round 1. Followed by my belated bday party a.k.a MY JIBABOM on 27th Mar. The food sucks and I believe the Ribena ran out towards the evening. However, the wonderful company made up for everything.
This could be the last birthday I will celebrate in Singapore for the next 5 years. For the uninformed, I will be entering NYU's East Asian Studies Department this coming Aug for a Phd degree. 30 is well and truly a new chapter of my life!! Knowing that I'll be moving to America, I had already divorced (sold off) my Japanese laogong (snowboard) so that I can remarry (buy) an American (snowboard). ^_^
For those interested, I will be focusing on cultural studies/ cultural anthropology of Japan. I am getting a Macracken Fellowship, which will pay for all tuition fees, insurance plus a monthly stipend for 5 years. It's almost like a Monbusho scholarship. I will probably live in a dorm for the first year of my stay there, thus, I cannot bring Variel along. However, I intend to get an apartment on my 2nd year, after which Variel will join me.
Friends are welcomed to visit me, though I cannot promise that I will have time to bring you around. Given that there will probably be mountains of readings, I will probably be so stressed that I have to resort to crazed ramblings on this blog.
