Last minute jitters
Looking at my unpacked suitcase, worrying about the logistics of life in Manhattan and realizing that I won't be able to see Variel anymore, I finally understood the gravity of the situation. So much so that I almost wanted to back out. We are talking about America, a country so foreign to me that it might as well be some village in Africa. This is definitely scarier than moving to Japan.
The idea of moving into an empty apartment, not having an internet connection, starting all over again to build friendships and ties... it boggles the mind. This must be worse than getting married, at least you will somewhat know what you are getting yourself into. I feel like I am going to make a leap of faith off the edge of a cliff, with no idea of where and how I will land.
This is my last night in Singapore. For all I know, it could just be the last time Variel sleeps next to me. I finally gained a fine appreciation of either my bravery or my foolhardiness.
I wonder if I will be cool as a cucumber in the airport. I wonder if I will miss home this time. Or will I miss Okinawa or Hokkaido?
I guess I simply have to open my eyes wide open to look where I am going, have faith in myself and God, and never ever live with any regrets.
