Together in Electric Dreams
My mum was boxing my books in Bedok one night and she unearthed a short novel from the 1984 movie, Electric Dreams. It was about a love triangle between a man, a woman and yes, a computer!! Since I spent my childhood in a cloud, I cannot remember if I watched the movie, read the novel or listened to the music first. But it was a brief foray into the nostalgic 80s and 90s for me.
Spending my time in a cloud of books meant that I do not remember much of my childhood, much less my classmates. The only bits and pieces of popular culture that so enraptured the youths of yester years and left an impression in my hazy memory were this movie and my classmates crooning 'In the still of the night' a la acapella during sec 2. I remember being simultaneously awed and confused over their strange behavior. Of course, I do have a few CDs featuring pop songs of that period. Mind you, I still have 'The Best of Take That' lined up together with my Les Miserables soundtrack.
