Aftershock
I had been remiss in updating my blog. And that is because I am usually busy either studying or trying to build up relations with other people here. The only thing I blog about is my 'work', of which I am spending an inordinate amount of time on. I am currently feeling rather disturbed by my pleasure in my 'work'. Why am I being pleasantly stressed over it?
Anyway, back to the main topic: Aftershock or 唐山大地震. My my my, MBP's language input is so convenient and easy. You can say that I am biased but I liked this movie! Especially since my previous chinese movie was Nanking Nanking. I was worried that Aftershock will turn out to be another massacre and I was happily wrong. Death, mangled body parts and blood only occupied about 15min of this 2 hour movie. The story was simply about how a family was torn apart due to the earthquake. The movie was very quiet but moving. I don't think I had ever cried so much in a movie. Another plus point about this movie is how it focuses on women. The male characters in the movie are almost silenced. Haha!
Oh, and there'll be many more movies in the future. The grad students in my department will be organizing a movie night once or even twice a month. Next movie might be Fish Story. Tanoshimi!!
