A hiatus
Guys, I just finished reading a book called Breakup 2.0 by Ilana Gershon. Really interesting, since it is about breakups within new media. You know, when you go from 'in a relationship with ...' to 'single', stalking/deleting your ex from your fb account and etc. There were stuff about private and public sphere, anonymity of audience vs anonymity of author. It made me think about this blog and my fb account, not that I had never thought of the repercussions of putting my private life in public before. I must say, there is a certain amount of ambivalence coupled with self-censorship over here. Meaning I do put stuff up here with the full understanding that this is a public space, since there is no limited access to this blog. But I am not so stupid as to put my full name here lah.
Anyway, feels like my roommate is sleeping better these days, which is a big relief. Erica told me to recite Psalms 199 over the whole house but I only did it in my room. It was an incredibly long passage! Even so, I do need to find time to read this while walking around the apartment.
Thanksgiving is approaching and I still cannot believe that I am in America. Two more weeks and I'll be hitting the powder. As I am going with the people from the ski and snowboard club here, I am hoping to pick up some snowboard slang. In the meantime, I got myself a new laogong. He's a Burton Feelgood 2010 in blue. Honestly speaking, there were some scratches on both sides but it was a 60% discount and the sales guy was just so cute that I had to buy. His points went up the moment he mentioned that he had been snowboarding for 20 years!!! My goodness, he looks 25 leh! Snowboarding since 5?!? But I can't gauge the age of most Asians, much less ang mohs. So right now, I am waiting for the rest of my laogong's man parts (bindings and boots) to arrive cos I bought them online. I even left him at my friend's apartment cos she lives nearer to the snowboard shop.
